HFA 7-2 AC MILANO
This game promised to be a tight and entertaining affair, especially since the first time these two teams met earlier in the season, resulted in a 4-4 thriller. Both of these two teams were coming into the game on the back of defeats the previous week and were looking to take some much needed points. Milano started the better of the two teams and after cutting through the HFA backline, they missed two great chances to take the lead. Having missed those chances, it was HFA who took the lead against the run of play when Owais beat his marker and took a shot which the Milano keeper fumbled in. A few moments later, things got worse for Milano as a quick fire double for HFA took the game away from them. First it was Umar shooting from the right hand side, leaving the keeper stranded and then it was top scorer Yasin continuing on his amazing scoring run by slotting into the bottom corner. Another goal just before the interval for HFA coming from Ramzy left Milano with an uphill struggle in the second half. The second half started and Milano were looking likely to score but another missed chance just summed up their evening. Against the run of play, HFA capitalised when Yasin beat his marker to put HFA 5-0 up. The game was virtually over and although Milano did manage to get two goals on the night coming from Minhaz and Shoaib, HFA grabbed two more with the inform Yasin getting his hatrick and Mohammed scoring the team’s final goal. 7-2 winners on the night, HFA were deserved winners, they will now face the inform Potential Squad next week. AC Milano have not looked this unorganised all season and will be hoping to get back to their usual self next week against table toppers Prohawks.
POTENTIAL SQUAD 4-3 JFC
This game was billed as one of the games of the season and for the neutral spectators on the sides, they were not disappointed. the winner of this game would show their intent for challenging for the league this season and the loser would ultimately be out of the title race. So, the game started and I was end to end from the word go. JFC had the better chances but could not take advantage and they would rue their lack of firepower in front of goal as the first goal came for the Potential boys. A shot from the half way line from Azhad, somehow was fumbled in by the JFC keeper and put Potential 1-0 up. JFC having dominated the early possession could not believe they were behind. Moments later things got worse for JFC as Sanad bullied his way through the team and smashed the ball into the top corner. A change in formation allowed JFC to push numbers forward and they were rewarded just before halftime when Faz put Azz through on goal and Azz slotted the ball into the net. 2-1 at half time and all to play for, for both teams. The second half started and JFC were looking for that equaliser but as things were looking good, they lost a player due to been sin binned. Sunny for a rough tackle on Azhad was given his marching orders by the referee. From the resulting passage of play, Sanad smashed another shot past the JFC keeper to put Potential 3-1 up. When the man advantage was restored by JFC, they began to push numbers forward and it was Sunny who got on the scoresheet next. A pass from Humza forced Sunny out wide but he did not let it deter him from shooting. Instead, it produced one of the goals of the night when Sunny beat the keeper at the near post, a similar strike to the one Brazilian Maicon did years ago. JFC began pushing for the equaliser but were always wary of the attacking threat from Potential. JFC did get back into the game however when Captain Fahad was sent off for a sin bin and allowed JFC the man advantage. Sanad was dispossessed by Faz and he passed the ball across the box for Azz to tap into an empty net, 3-3 with 5 minutes to go. With JFC losing the ball in possession, Azhad was making his way through to goal but was cynically taken out by Faz and he got his marching orders for a 2 minutes’ sin bin. With the man advantage, Potential pushed numbers forward and they scored when Ahmed was put through on goal and slotted in. JFC did have a chance towards the end to get an equaliser but it was not to be and the game finished 4-3 to Potential. Three defeats in four games has dented JFC’s titles hopes and they will be new champions this season! Potential Squad are looking extremely strong right now and the swagger they are playing in, will make it difficult for most teams to play against. Big games ahead for them, especially the top of the table clash with Prohawks in a few weeks’ time.
PROHAWKS 4-3 FOREST TOWN
The other big game on the night was first vs second place, Forest Town vs Prohawks. This was a great game for those on the sides to watch and it promised to be an entertaining affair. The game started with Prohawks showing their attacking threat with the front 3 of Zubair, Aswat and Arif attacking at will but each time they were thwarted by the solid backline of Omz, Biggie and Hussain. On the counter is where Forest Town were looking to expose Prohawks. 10 minutes in and they were ahead when Captain Zain, beat his marker and put the Town Boys ahead! Prohawks shocked at conceding pushed numbers forward to get an equiliser but nothing was going right for them and moments later they were 2-0 down as again, on the counter attack they were left exposed allowing Ali to smash into the roof of the net. Town were in dreamland and rightfully deserved their lead. Just as the half was coming to an end a long range shot was parried by the Forest Town keeper and left substitute Uzair in on goal and he made no mistakes to get Prohawks bac into the game. 2-1 half time and all to play for in the second half. Prohawks knew if they lost this game they would face an uphill task of winning the league and they came out of the blocks faster in the second half. An error at the abck for Forest Town, left Arif with half a chance to shoot and that’s exactly what he did, hitting a half volley into the bottom corner. 2-2 and the crowd were going mad, majority of them been Prohawks supporters. After a few minutes of both team’s attacks been cancelled out by superb defending, it was left to Uzair to set the game alight and take centre stage. A quick fire double from him, the first goal came when he beat 3 players and passed the ball into the net and the second coming from a long range shot which the keeper should have done better to keep out. These goals helped him bag a hatrick on the night and ultimately ended the contest. A late goal from Hussain, when he beat 4 Prohawks players and smashed the ball into the net, was the goal of the night but it proved to only be a consolation. It ended 4-3 to Prohawks and takes them to the top of the table! A great game for the neutrals. Forest Town remain joint second and are still in with a chance of winning the league, but they must hope Prohawks drop some points to have any chance.
IG1 9-8 FC UNITED
IG1 fielding a depleted team had to bring in a few random players to fulfil the fixture. FC United also a couple players short so bought in some random players too. It was a good tight game but IG1 ended up winning the friendly contest on the night 9-8.
Another great week of football full of twists and great goals. Come back next week for more big games. Only at Community Leagues.
