FOREST TOWN 10-0 IG1
This fixture was always a big game in the past few seasons but this instalment was a whitewash as IG1 turned up with a shortage of players so had to forfeit the game. A friendly was played which Forest Town won.
JFC 7-1 FC UNITED
Last Season’s Champions JFC are out of the title race this season after losing three of the last four games. Standards have dropped and complacency has crept into the team. However, they were looking to get back to winning ways against bottom of the league FC United who have amassed only 1 point in 10 games. FC United had bought in a few new faces for this game and they looked intent on grabbing their first win of the season. They started the better of the two teams and should have taken the lead within the first minute as some sloppy play from the JFC backline let in the striker but he fluffed his shot in front of goal. 5 minutes into the game, FC United did eventually take the lead and it was Aron, beating his marker in the middle of the park and slotting the ball into the net. Not to be outdone, JFC went up the other end and got back into the game when Faz dispossessed the right back and slotted the ball into the net. A few moments later JFC doubled their lead when a long throw from the inform Karan in goal for JFC, put Saif through on goal and he nonchalantly chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper. Just as the half was about to end, JFC got a quick fire double to increase the lead. The first of those two goals coming from Ibby and the second from Saif again. 4-1 at half time and things did not look good for FC United. The second half started in pretty much the same fashion as the first. JFC taking their foot off the gas and been complacent at times. They nearly allowed FC United through on goal, but the striker missed his chance. This seemed to wake up JFC and they pushed forward and were rewarded with another goal when Ibby got on the scoresheet again. A few minutes later Faz grabbed his second of the game to all but kill the game and there was a late goal from Man of the Match Humza, after great build up play from the backline to set him through on goal. 7-1 full time and JFC back to winning ways again. FC United played well but were lacking the killer instinct on front of goal to punish the opposition, thigs do not get easier for them as they face table toppers Prohawks in the next game week.
POTENTIAL SQUAD 6-1 HFA
Potential are one of the inform teams going into the final part of the season. After beating JFC the week before, they are now looking to march on to claim their second title in Community Leagues. They faced a HFA team intent on spoiling the party like they did the season before. HFA missing a few notable absentees from their starting line-up, started the better of the 2 teams and took the lead when top scorer Yasin put them ahead. He has now scored in every game so far this season, an amazing achievement! This seemed to rile up the potential boys and they increased the pressure on the HFA backline. Each time, they were thwarted by the excellent defence. However, 10 minutes into the game and Potential got back level, it was not from any of their attacking players though, it came from centre back Abz, after he beat 2 players and shot the ball into the bottom corner. From then onwards, it was one-way traffic for Potential. A goal from Fahad just before the half put Potential 2-1 up at the interval. The second half was pretty much how the first half had ended. Potential dominating the play and HFA trying to counter but not having much success. The next goal would be crucial in this game and it came for Potential, this time it was Azz with a long range strike that squeezed into the near post. Potential’s top scorer Sanad then got into the act and hit a quick fire double to take the game away from HFA and all but kill the tie. In the dying minutes, Captain Fahad got another goal and sealed the victory for his team, 6-1 game over. HFA started well but just could not contain the movement of the Potential boys. Potential are looking strong and they face a top of the table clash against Prohawks in the coming weeks, 3/3 wins in the remaining games and the title is theirs.
PROHAWKS 6-3 AC MILANO
This game promised to be an entertaining affair, especially since the first time these two teams met earlier in the season, resulted in Prohawks winning 8-2. Prohawks were missing the influential duo of Uzair and Zubair but still were confident of having enough in the squad to win the game. Milano welcomed back Arif and Kaks to the team and drafted in goalkeeper Ice for this clash. The game started in blistering speed and challenges were flying in from both teams. Quite a scrappy game at first but a goal is what was needed and it came for Prohawks. Captain Pele played through on goal and calmly slotting the ball into the net. Milano raised the game and had a few chances to score but could not make the most of their opportunities. Instead it was Prohawks who capitalised when Aswat beat his player and took a shot which deflected of the Milano defender and flew into the net. 2-0 and the crowd was buzzing. 5 minutes before the half finished Mohammed for Prohawks was giving a sin bin for dragging Arif down when through on goal. Milano sensed an opportunity and they took it alright. Veteran Barry beating his marker and smashing the ball into the net and getting a valuable goal just before half time. 2-1 at half time and all to play for in the second half. The second half started with the high intensity of the first and both teams were putting in strong challenges. The next goal would be crucial in this game and it came for Milano. Against the run of play, left back Arif made a great run from his own half and smashed the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper no chance. As quickly as Milano had got the lead, within 30 seconds they were losing again. Captain Pele getting on the scoresheet again by curling the ball around a defender and into the top corner. Prohawks were looking comfortable but a moment of lapse in the defence allowed Naeem a chance in on goal and he buried the ball into the bottom corner, 3-3 what a game! With 10 minutes to go, Milano pushed numbers forward but on the counter they were undone when centre back Yahya took a long range strike which took a deflection and rustled into the net. Prohawks then went on and got two more goals in the dying minutes, both coming from Star Man Pele to take his tally to 4 for the night! 6-3 it finished and it was a great game to watch for the neutrals on the sides. Milano played brilliant but on the day, they just came up against a better team. They will hope to continue this form in their next games. Prohawks mean business and with the attacking threat at their disposal it will take a great team to stop them winning the league this season. Top of the league right now, the league is virtually theirs. However, they have tough games against Potential Squad and JFC in the New Year to come so if they pass those tests then they deserve to lift the trophy!
Another great week of football full of twists and great goals. Come back in the New Year for more big games. Only at Community Leagues...
